In order to improve security while accessing Slack, users should use Multi-Factor Authentication. Multi-Factor authentication adds an extra layer around the traditional username and password login, thus preventing unwanted access by threat actors to your Slack instance. With Acceptto Multi-Factor Authentication adding that extra layer is simples and cost-effective.
This guide will walkthrough the following steps:
- Configure the Slack instance to use Multi-Factor Authentication
- Scan a QR code generated by Slack with the Acceptto Mobile Application.
- Login to Slack using Multi-Factor Authentication.
Configure MFA Plugin
Step 1 - Select your instance, and from the dropdown menu, select Administration, workspace settings.
Step 2 - Select Authentication tab and expand the Workspace-wide two-factor authentication section.
Then, Select Activate two-factor authentication for my workspace.
Step 3 - Approve or customize the message alerting users for the fact that Multi-Factor Authentication is required.
Step 4 - Access your account settings and select Setup Two-Factor Authentication
Scan the QR code using the Acceptto Mobile application and provide the one time code generated.
Step 5 - Scan the QR code using the Acceptto Mobile application and provide the one time code generated in the Acceptto App.
Optionally add a backup phone.
Enter the one time code provided to the mobile phone.
Logon with username and password; and at the next screen enter the One Time Password generated inside the Acceptto Mobile Application.
